For our review, we purchased the DAKA GRID Organizer for Plano All Weather 2 and Rustrictor 36″ rifle cases. It arrived promptly in a custom printed 15″x15″x11″ shipping box. Inside the box, we received the following contents:

Design & Build Quality

At first glance, the Magpul DAKA GRID Organizer has a clean, utilitarian design. Constructed with Magpul’s proprietary Expanded Polypropylene (EPP) Panels and blocks, the organizer offers a high level of durability. The material feels rugged and is built to withstand heavy use. They aren’t like the old-school foam inserts that get debris all over your gear. They are water-resistant, which makes them ideal for a range of environments, including outdoor adventures or those working in less-than-ideal weather conditions. The reinforced Polypropylene construction ensures that the organizer will hold up well over time, even under stress or in harsh conditions.

The GRID design is straightforward and functional, with two and three square removable blocks that make up the organizer’s modular storage system. The GRID system—a clever, customizable arrangement of blocks and dividers is adjustable to meet the specific needs of the user. There’s even an angled block kit you can order to further customize the space. This modular design feature is one of the standout characteristics of the product, making it extremely adaptable for various purposes.

Whether you’re carrying electronic accessories, survival gear, or tactical tools with your rifle, you can modify the internal layout to fit your items perfectly.

For those who have ever dealt with the frustration of tangled cables or disorganized gear in a bag, the ability to compartmentalize your items in a DAKA bag in a way that is fully customizable to your gun case is an invaluable feature. Magpul DAKA GRID Functionality

When it comes to functionality, the Magpul DAKA GRID Organizer shines as a product that emphasizes ease of use and practicality. This is especially useful at the gun range or when operating with limited space, like out of the back of a vehicle. The organizational system provides an efficient way to manage your items, allowing you to pack more into a compact space without sacrificing ease of use.

One of the primary advantages of the GRID system is that it helps eliminate the chaos of searching for items in your case. Everything has a designated place, and the modularity of the design means that the organization is tailored to your specific needs. If you need fast access to your first-aid kit, or a multitool, the adjustable blocks and bins keep your items neat and secure. The standard panels and blocks are a satin black, which can make it difficult to see items that are a similar color. Personally, I’d prefer the Polypropylene interior material to be FDE, or even an orange or yellow color to make it easier to locate dark colored objects quickly.

Another noteworthy feature is the texture of the interior, which provides extra grip inside the organizer. The Polypropylene material has what I’d call a mild texture to it. When you place items like PMAGS, DAKA pouches, or other polymer accessories against the Polypropylene, they stay put. It’s a small but thoughtful design choice that enhances the overall functionality.

Durability & Performance

The performance of the Magpul DAKA GRID Organizer is top-tier. As mentioned earlier, the Expanded Polypropylene (EPP) Panels and Blocks are both water-resistant and abrasion-resistant, which means they will perform well in a variety of daily use scenarios. Whether you’re working in the rain or navigating through harsh outdoor conditions, the organizer holds up without showing signs of wear and tear. We dropped an (unloaded) AR-15 rifle, lengthways, a total twenty-five times onto the Polypropylene panels from a distance of 36″ and noticed barely any visible wear. It’s impressive to see that the DAKA GRID Organizer is built to withstand rigorous use.

The organizer’s modular system also contributes to its overall longevity. Since the blocks can be repositioned or removed entirely, you can continually adapt the layout to your evolving needs without having to replace the entire organizer. Putting the blocks in and taking them out doesn’t seem to put a lot of wear on them. They are designed to be low friction. Meaning, you’ll be using the same set of blocks for years to come. This durability makes it a long-lasting solution for organizing and carrying your gear inside your case.

However, one thing to consider is that some users may find the GRID system tedious. It does take a while to set up the GRID, and to get all your gear where you want it to go using the blocks. If organization is not your thing, it could take you some time to customize the layout exactly as desired. While this is a minor issue, especially when compared to the benefits of the system’s adaptabilities, it is worth mentioning for users who need to set up their gear in a hurry.
