The CVLIFE Professional Laser Bore Sight is designed to provide a precise reference when zeroing optics or iron sights. It does that efficiently, offering good accuracy when sighting up to 100 yards. We needed to sight in a 6.5 Grendel rifle we picked up recently and decided to take it to task. Within minutes of opening the packaging, we were able to identify the correct adapter (#4) and mount it, along with the bore sight, into the rifle’s barrel. After locking our rifle on a tripod, and aligning the scope with the dot, we were on paper with rounds at 25 yards, then at 50 yards within about 15 minutes. Depending on what you’re sighting in, we’d recommend giving yourself 30 minutes to an hour to set up and use the CVLIFE Professional Laser Bore Sight.

The build quality of the bore sight unit is solid, it’s machined out of aluminum and appears to be powder-coated. It does not have an inner o-ring, so we assume it’s also not weather resistant. The button for toggling the laser on/off feels nice and has a tactile “click” to it with each press. The included screwdriver, allen wrench, and arbor are all on the same level of quality. What gave us some concern was the build quality of the caliber-specific accessories. They are made of plastic and have a single set screw that tightens them into the barrel of the rifle. It would not be difficult to over tighten, or strip the screw from the plastic housing. Also, if you forced the wrong caliber-specific accessory into a barrel, it seems likely that it would break off. 

CVLIFE Professional Laser Bore Sight: Accuracy & Ease of Use

The laser bore sight functions without a hitch, even on bright sunny days. It’s bright and easy to see, however, we did find that the dot increases about 25% in size every ten yards. So, if you’re zeroing on a target at 25 yards, expect the dot to be roughly 50% larger than it is at the bore. That said, it still provides exceptional value at under $30 and requires only a slight learning curve. Do we wish the laser was higher quality? Sure, but that would come with added cost. It fits a broad range of firearms and quickly zeros them in accurately. It’s a useful tool that should give hunters and shooters many years of service.

We do share some users’ concerns about the build quality of the accessories included with the CVLIFE Professional Laser Bore Sight. There’s also something left to be desired about the size of the laser dot at distances. As mentioned, it does do a lot of things for a solid price point that many competitive options leave out. Its host of features alone make it a smart buy. It’s something that, if you take care of, will provide you with years of service. If you tend to be rough on things, your money may be better spent on a more rugged unit.
